All students will be assisted by Advisors who guide you through your academic journey.

More specifically:

For students applying to the College of Public Service (pursuing a Bachelors of Arts in Teaching).

After being admitted to the university, you will then need to be admitted to the College of Public Service and then to a specific Teacher Education Program.

Once you earn a UHD GPA, you will be transferred to the College of Public Service Advising. At this point, Advisors in the College of Public Service will guide you through the following entrance requirements:

Admission to the College of Public Service
- After you have completed your General Education Core courses
- 2.3 overall GPA (including grades from all colleges/universities attended)
Admission to a Teacher Preparation Program
- Minimum 2.5 overall GPA (including grades from all colleges/universities attended)
- After you have completed, with a grade of "C" or higher, all of the following courses within the last 12 hours:
  - College Algebra or Higher Math
  - Composition I and II
  - Life and Physical Science component
  - American History component
  - Formal application to the program and interview

For students applying to subject area-specific programs

If you are majoring in a different content area with a desire to teach at the high school level, you will eventually work with the Department of Urban Education in conjunction with the department that offers degrees in your chosen subject area (for example, the Math or Science Department) to complete the "Secondary Teacher Preparation program".

You should contact the program or University College advisor associated with this subject to express your interest in the Secondary Teacher Preparation program and the advisor will provide you with a copy of the relevant degree plan.
