You can complete this program in one to two years, depending on your subject area. Typical enrollment begins July 1 of the school year you are hired. For example, if you enroll the summer prior to the school year starting, you will complete the program over the course of one-to-two school years, culminating in June, depending on your licensure endorsement.

Year 1: Licensure coursework centered on the Teacher Quality Standards
Year 2: Specific coursework for those pursuing licensure in  early childhood education or special education

This program combines district learning, in-person sessions, job experience and self-paced modules. These learning experiences will help you meet licensure requirements, improve your teaching and grow as an educator through:

Through comprehensive onboarding, orientation and ongoing professional learning, the 27J INSIGHT Alternative Licensure Program will prepare you to meet the needs of all students. 

You’ll engage in structured training focused on effective teaching strategies, social-emotional learning and adaptive instructional practices—laying the foundation for creating supportive, student-centered classrooms where every learner can succeed.

The 27J INSIGHT Alternative Licensure Program surrounds every new teacher with a caring circle of support, ensuring no one grows alone. 

Through weekly mentor check-ins, thoughtful observation and feedback from mentors, coaches, and program coordinators and time spent learning from experienced teachers, you will build confidence and refine your craft in real time. 

Together, you and your support team will create a personalized growth plan, making sure each step toward licensure is clear, purposeful, and rooted in encouragement — so you feel seen, supported and ready to thrive.
