**Student teaching in NYC Public Schools- Monday – Friday 7:50 am -2:30 pm.

You will receive lots of hands-on experience working with students in real classrooms. These experiences will help you gain confidence, improve your skills and learn how to create a positive learning environment for all students:

• From the start of your program, you will complete fieldwork where you observe teachers, help with lessons and interact with children. 
• As you progress, you will spend more time in schools, practicing teaching under the guidance of experienced educators. 
• In your final semester, you will student-teach full-time, leading lessons and managing a classroom with support from a mentor teacher. 

The Queens College School of Education will help you learn how to support all types of students by giving you real classroom experience and practical training, including:  

• Classes that teach you how to include and support every learner, including those who speak different languages or have special learning needs. You will also learn how to help all students with their emotions and social skills. 
• Student teaching in NYC schools to give you experience working with children from different backgrounds. 

With guidance from experienced teachers, you’ll gain the skills to create welcoming, supportive classrooms where every child can succeed.

Your program will connect you with experienced mentors who will guide and support you throughout your training. 

• During student teaching, mentors help with lesson planning, classroom management and teaching strategies. They give helpful feedback so you can improve and gain confidence. 
• College supervisors also visit classrooms to provide additional coaching. 
• Even after graduation, the program continues to support alumni through workshops, networking events and job opportunities. You can stay connected through an alumni network, where you can get advice, share experiences and keep learning as you start your teaching career.
