At Lone Star College’s Department of Education, you can pursue an Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) that directly leads to a bachelor's degree in education at a four-year university. Throughout the program, you will take courses that prepare you for professional responsibilities, pedagogy standards and field work that challenges you to utilize classroom learned skills and techniques. 

In the program, Lone Star prepares you to teach in a variety of subjects and utilize teaching methods for early childhood, elementary and middle school classrooms. The program is designed to equip future educators with everything they will need to teach and engage young learners. 

During your coursework, you will be required to gain field work hours in local classrooms and work with a mentor teacher. These field experiences are invaluable, and allow you to practice classroom management, ESL and innovative pedagogy methods. 

Upon graduation, you will be able to enter the workforce or transfer to a four-year institution and continue your path to a bachelor’s degree in education.
