Program Info

Loyola University Maryland's undergraduate programs in education prepare you with the knowledge, skills and tools you need to be an effective educator in any classroom. Loyola's program offers a strong liberal arts foundation combined with intense knowledge development and field-based experiences. You will be prepared for teaching through a program which blends theory with practice. Through field experiences and service learning courses, education majors (and minors) obtain experience working with diverse children in urban and suburban school settings.

Though Loyola's undergraduate program offers a variety of majors and minors, they also offer a robust special education major program.
The program prepares you to teach and advocate for students with disabilities. Upon graduation, you will earn a Maryland teacher license in either elementary/middle or secondary/adult special education.

Special education program curriculum:

Courses in assessment, behavior management, collaboration, curriculum and instruction, and literacy
Clinical experiences throughout the program
Six free electives to explore your interests or study different subjects, such as speech-language-hearing sciences or psychology.
