Founded in 1903, Pittsburg State University (PSU) is a fully accredited, regional university located in southeast Kansas. Pittsburg State offers 18 different initial teacher licensure programs and many graduate license endorsement programs. PSU's highly regarded teacher education programs meet the rigorous national accrediting standards of the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). Pittsburg State University has an enrollment of more than 7,000 students and more than 55,000 proud alumni across the U.S. and around the world. 

The historical and prevailing focus of PSU and the College of Education (COE) is excellence in teaching. PSU creates a learning environment that supports candidates throughout their program and teaching profession by providing undergraduate and graduate programs and services to the people of southeast Kansas and beyond. The Teacher Education Programs at PSU embrace a dynamic, progressive approach to preparing professionals who possess the knowledge, skills and dispositions to meet the needs of all students and PK-12 schools.

The teacher education programs at PSU include programs and faculty from the College of Education, College of Arts and Sciences, and the College of Technology. This unique combination of academic programs in the three colleges encourages collaboration by facilitating partnerships with secondary and post-secondary educational institutions and the community. The College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Technology contain most of the secondary education initial licensure programs by content area.
