Your certification journey begins after you accept your formal invitation to the cohort. Once accepted, the in-person half-day orientation introduces you to our program structure, online platform and cohort community. You will connect with 180 Administrators, learn state certification steps and set a clear timeline for your transition into the classroom and program completion.

For the first three months of the program, you begin acquiring foundational teaching theories and practices in your online coursework with your first 180 Course, in which you receive expert feedback and guidance from your 180 Instructors. You will begin preparation for your content pedadogy TExES exams with three-months of paid access to 240 Tutoring.

In March, you'll start this nine-week phase by engaging in the in-person and virtual cohort trainings with your peers along with completing your field-based experiences at Texas Colleage Preparatory Academies schools within the metroplex. Through which you continue to prepare for and complete your content pedagogy TExES exams with 240 Tutoring study guides and virtual test preparation classes. During this stage, you receive support in securing your full-time teaching position as a teacher of record for your paid, yearlong internship at a partnering Texas College Preparatory Academies school. 

After all PST benchmarks are met and you secure an aligned teaching position with your sought certification, step into your own classroom as a full-time, paid teacher while continuing in your coursework with two 180 courses—including in-person and virtual trainings. You'll apply what you've learned while receiving regular visits and guidance from your field supervisor and mentor. In the second half of internship, you prepare for and complete the Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities (PPR) TExES exam. Once all program and state requirements are met, you apply for and obtain your Texas Standard Teaching Certificate.

Pre-Service Preparation
Before taking over your own classroom, you will complete hands-on field experiences at partner Texas Collegiate Preparatory Academies campuses across DFW. Observing active classrooms lets you analyze real-world management strategies, student engagement techniques and lesson execution in real time before leading instruction yourself. Then you put it into practice with inactive experiences in which you deliver lessons to students with the support and guidance of the cooperating teacher and 180 staff. 

Yearlong Paid Teaching Internship
Step directly into a full-time, salary-paid role as the teacher of record for an entire school year. Managing your own classroom daily allows you to build authentic relationships with students, design and deliver continuous instruction, and master long-term positive and productive classroom culture.

Dual-Layered Mentorship & Coaching
Throughout your internship, you are paired with both an experienced mentor teacher and a dedicated 180 field supervisor. Through regular classroom visits, constructive feedback and targeted coaching, you receive personalized guidance that directly accelerates your growth and refines your teaching skills.

Universal English as a Second Language (ESL) Dual Certification
You will earn an ESL supplemental endorsement alongside your primary certificate subject area. In-Program Dual-Layered Mentorship
During your yearlong paid internship, you are supported by an experienced intern mentor teacher and a dedicated 180 field supervisor. Your mentor offers ongoing, weekly classroom guidance, while your field supervisor conducts observations throughout the year to deliver structured, actionable feedback that accelerates your growth as teacher of record tailored to your unique professional developmental needs.

Interactive Sessions
During your face-to-face sessions with your 180 instructors, you will engage in interactive application of the knowledge and skills you learn about in your online coursework to practice them with your peers while receiving targeted, constructive feedback to continuously refine your teaching skills.
