About

Teach Right USA is a South Carolina-based nonprofit that prepares individuals with non-education degrees to become certified teachers. Ideal for career-changers, the program takes a hands-on, practical approach to education and offers flexible online certification pathways in early childhood, elementary, middle and high school, as well as K–12 subjects like art, business, music, physical education and world languages.

Teach Right USA’s mission is to create generational change by training inspired, committed educators who foster understanding and respect for traditional American values and institutions. The organization was recognized in the 2023 South Carolina Governor’s Task Force on Teacher Recruitment and Retention Report for its impact on long-term classroom success.

The program includes self-paced online modules, monthly professional development, and one-on-one support from experienced educators. You will be paired with a dedicated advisor and receive individualized coaching, including personalized ADEPT 4.0 support, to ensure readiness for teaching in South Carolina schools.

Designed by South Carolina principals for South Carolina teachers, the program is led by facilitators with school leadership experience who are committed to your success.

Program Info

The Teach Right USA Alternative Certification Program is thoughtfully designed with work-life balance in mind. As a participant, you will be employed by a South Carolina public school and begin your journey with an in-person orientation held in September.

Following orientation, you’ll complete ten online modules at your own flexible pace. These modules feature job-embedded activities that are directly applied in your classroom, ensuring immediate relevance and practical experience.

If your focus is early childhood education or elementary education, you’ll also complete six additional online literacy modules. These modules are aligned with the new South Carolina Literacy Competencies and are similarly paced to accommodate working professionals.

You will receive support from an onsite mentor at your school, as well as a designated Teach Right USA staff member who provides personalized guidance. To further support your professional growth and build a sense of community, monthly professional development sessions are offered via Zoom. Topics include key areas such as state testing and teaching students with special needs.
