Foundations: You begin by building a strong foundation in your content area, learning and development, and ways to support diverse student needs in the classroom. 

Building Teaching Skills: You continue to strengthen your skills in planning, instruction and assessment through courses in specific teaching methods and through clinical experiences in classrooms.

Stepping into the Role: You take on the full responsibilities of a teacher, including planning and teaching lessons, managing the classroom and giving feedback to students, all with the support of a mentor teacher and university supervisor.

• Complete supervised clinical experiences in multicultural schools throughout the final two years of the program
• Engage in Practice-Based Teacher Education, including opportunities for peer teaching, teaching simulations and ongoing coaching to build key teaching skills

• Over three-quarters of TU graduates in Maryland public schools remain in the classroom three years or more
• Over half of TU program graduates taught in high-needs schools after finishing their program
• Opportunity to minor in Linguistic Diversity, focusing on the needs of multilingual learners
