Program Info

The agricultural education program prepares you to pursue school-based agricultural education teaching positions in Minnesota or nearby states. As part of the program, you’ll complete a 12-week teaching internship to qualify for a Minnesota teaching license in grades 5–12 Agricultural Education, as well as the Coordinator of Work-Based Learning license.

You’ll graduate ready to teach agriscience, agribusiness, animal science, horticulture, food science, agricultural mechanics and natural resource science. Both licenses are designated as shortage areas in Minnesota, and graduates of the University’s program are in high demand thanks to their strong content knowledge and extensive hands-on experience.

To support the next generation of teachers and the students you'll serve, this program contributes to:

  • Increasing instructional options for teachers
  • Reducing student-to-teacher ratios
  • Addressing the size and diversity of today’s classrooms
  • Boosting student engagement and participation
