Washington University in St. Louis is a place where people matter and serious work is done. With approximately 45 teacher education majors, class sizes are small so students get quality individualized instruction and supervised teaching experiences in area schools.
Washington University is a private institution established in 1853 in St. Louis, MO. Teacher Education is housed in the College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Education. The Department offers undergraduate and graduate teacher certification programs for elementary, middle school, and secondary education in 23 subject areas. Most graduates are employed quickly after completion while some go on to pursue advanced graduate studies.
Approximately 7 out of 10 Teacher Education graduates have teaching positions immediately after graduation. Other graduates pursue different opportunities such as graduate school or employment in occupations related to education. Virtually all WashU Teacher Education graduates who apply for certification are approved in Missouri.
