Earn your degree.
You’ll need a bachelor’s degree to get your teaching license in North Carolina. Some bachelor’s programs allow you to earn your license alongside your degree. But no matter what you’ll need the degree if you plan on getting a teaching license. Especially if you think you might want to go on and get a master’s degree to boost your pay and your employment prospects.

Complete an Educator Prep Program.
Decide which grades and subjects you want to teach and then apply to a program that offers your preferred endorsements. Browse our partner programs to find one that fits in your life. Paths to Teaching
TAs to Teachers
The TAs to Teachers program encourages Teaching Assistants to pursue teaching licenses either full-time or part-time through financial assistance and academic leave opportunities.
Through the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, each participating school board may grant TAs academic leave to pursue their teaching license. Each school board may also award up to five TAs as much as $4,600 each per year toward the cost of tuition.
